Index of the Children

FIRST CHILD OF JAMES.

Wilfred married Barbara Mary, second daughter of Reverend Dr. Ernest and Mrs. Gwendoline Margaret Cosham Jauncey born 13 April, 1924 at Brotherton, Yorkshire, England. They met during Wilfred's service with R.A.A.F. in England and became engaged before he left in 1945. Barbara travelled to Australia on the Stirling Castle, the first ship to bring fiancees out after the war and they were married 24 October, 1946 at Moree, Wilfred's Uncle, Walter Jackson, acting for her father escorted the bride to the alter. They have five children:

Wilfred is the writer of this book and details of his life are to be found at the front of the book.

Barbara studied at Manchester University before becoming a teacher in England. She later taught in Inverell at St. Mary's Convent and Holy Trinity School, (see Wilfred's story for more details).

One of Wilfred's recollections of his Grandfather, George, was his agility. He was well known for his ability to stand on his head, something he taught most of his grandchildren. On one occasion he demonstrated how easy it was, when in his seventies he was working on a header harvester, being drawn by a team of eight horses, did it while in motion on the seat of the header. Oh so simple.

Wilfred passed away on Friday 7th January, 2011 in the Ken Thompson Lodge in Armidale, where he and Barbara had been living since January, 2010.

Barbara passed away on Sunday 23rd December, 2012 in Tamworth Base Hospital where she was awaiting an operation for a broken hip.
